"In academia, the level of research I did was more abstract.

Then I worked in industry and realized the technology I worked with was 20 years old or more. So I felt there was a need for a high-tech company that would bridge the gap between research and academia, that would transfer new technology to the soldier much faster than it normally took," he said.

He is the author of the most widely used textbook in radar engineering, Introduction to Radar Analysis and Design Using Matlab, used as a standard text in many radar education curricula.

The book has been translated into Russian, Chinese and the main dialect of India.

Mahafza plans stay on the board and fill an advisory role in business development and other matters where his experience is needed.
